Submit your book review of the supplemental text you chose for this term. The following description of the Book Review requirements appear in your syllabus:

Each student will write a book review that will be a minimum of 1000 words, and address the following: (i) a synopsis of the textbook (ii) a critical reflection and analysis of its strengths and weaknesses, and (iii) what it contributes to the reader’s knowledge/experience of Judaism, Christianity, and/or Islam. The written book reviews are due before your class presentation time the week of April 1, 2024. If your presentation is on Monday, then your paper is due BEFORE classtime on Monday. If you are presenting on Wednesday, then your due date is Wednesday BEFORE class. The same holds true for those presenting on Friday.

Additional Notes:

First, the “critical reflection and analysis…” portion of the book review is considered the most important part of the written review. It counts for 30% of this assignment’s grade. In this section, you should be able to explain the core meaning(s) of the book you have read with explanatory examples. Do not just re-state an additional summary.

Second, this review covers the entire book! This should be self-evident, but please know that if I am convinced by your writing that you have read the text then your grade will reflect it. Also know that I have read reviews of these texts so often it becomes clear who does and doesn’t read it.

Third comes a no-brainer…do not plagiarize. Don’t use AI software to write your review. If you do, you will receive a zero grade for this assignment. In addition, WCU policies will be followed that require me to submit a plagiarism report. It’s embarrassing for you. It’s additional work for me because it involves sending paperwork to the Vice Provost and the Office of Student Ethics. Just don’t do it. Given that we use vetting software for submitted written work, I’ll know if you cheat.
