1) For this exercise: Think of someone you love, someone who is interested in your educational life and who wants you to succeed in your ENGL 99 class. Pretend you are writing an email to them in which you give the summary of Spare Parts, from pages 3 to 73. They are interested. They want to know what the book is about, and what it’s been like for you to read it. Make your email personal, in the way you naturally would. Tell them everything you think they need to know about the book. Pay particular attention to the plot–what happens first, second, and third. Write about five to seven paragraphs of plot, and ask yourself what the best way of writing this out is. Do you want a separate paragraph for each main character? Separate paragraphs for the places the teenagers live/ go to school. You decide. What is important? How do you show this to your loved one?

Then read and answer the Mock Exam questions of two others in the course and interact here about the exam, including any questions you might have about taking the exam.
