How does this perspective alter our understanding of our country? To what extent would our authors agree that America’s international problems a product of the same failure to understand human rights as our domestic problems are?
2.Carmichael’s speech answers the question “whether or not a man can condemn himself” (30). Can a person condemn him or herself according to Carmichael? Why is this key assumption so important to his argument? To what extent would Malcolm X agree? What does this tell us about how both men understand the mentality of the white majority and the extent to which the white community is capable of change?
