Edgar Allen Poe’s story, “A Tell-Tale Heart” is a classic story of horror and terror. It is also a story that is widely known and anthologized. However, that does not mean it is widely understood. Your “job” in this discussion is to explain your own understanding of the story, what it means and what fictional elements contribute to that meaning. As stated above in the description to the discussion, choose three different fictional elements to make your case as to the tale’s meaning. Since the story is told from the first-person point of view, and everything we know about the story comes through this narrator, I would have to assume that you will include “character” as one of the three elements. However, remember, characters are not always “reliable” and often say more than they mean to, especially if they’re mad!
