Emulate: To match or surpass, typically by imitation
Write a poem in which you emulate Olive Senior’s use of anthropomorphism in her poem “Plants.” You can also use plants, but you must be original. The bottom line is that you can essentially use any inanimate object or non-human entity to personify, but you must attempt to create a distinct tone, attitude or statement about the object or entity your poem is about (hopefully both).
Here are some potential subjects you could use that students have successfully written about in the past: smartphones, fire, clothing, shoes, flowers, doors, sports equipment, video game controllers etc. There are innumerable options – it’s really about coming up with a message and then meeting the requirements of the poem
1. Poems must be at least 10 lines (can be more but not less)
2. Must have an original title
3. They can be free verse or have a rhyme scheme of your choice
4. In addition to anthropomorphism you must clearly use at least one more poetic device in your poem
5. Include an MLA heading and an original title for your poem, also NUMBER the lines of your poem
6. Create on a Google Doc and attach to this assignment portal
