This painting is called San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk by Claude Monet. It is a beautiful painting of the ocean, a city and a sunset. Its main colors are warm colors with a little bit of cold colors at the edges of the painting. It uses an open pallet making it polychromatic. Monet uses perceptual colors to capture the moment which means that the colors we see in the painting might not been the true colors of that spot but what Monet saw at that specific time. That’s why we know that water is not red, orange, yellow but blue but because there’s a sunset going on the painter capture what he saw in the water and it was the sunset reflecting over the water. This piece of art gives a sense of calmness and peace; many of his paintings do. The colors that he uses are wonderful and they all come together to form a single picture.
