Important distinction exists between tragedy and pathos. In the pathetic there is little or no emphasis on the struggle, for the pathetic figure struggles so ineffectually that the audience reaction to her is one of pity. In the tragic there is a great deal of emphasis on the struggle. Choices are made. In an essay, explain why is Medea a tragic figure and not a pathetic figure in this play by Euripides?
