In “Space Program” A Tribe Called Quest, warn us in the great space race to leave Earth, Black people will be “stuck here.” The film Space Traders raises the question: Is this “space trade” a “slave trade”? How much has really changed for Black people? For many Black people, culture, traditions, and political thought affirm the value of Black life and look to another place and time, a future where and when Black people will be free. In three pages using ideas encountered in this class: dream imagine thinking about what it would look like and take to create a world where Black people are free, safe, and valued – even loved – as Black people. This is true Afro-Futurism.
