Module Four Lesson One Assignment:
**Developing Research Topic and Questions for a Persuasive Research Paper
Below are a few concepts to keep in mind for this assignment.
Your Purpose: Your purpose is to inform readers through research; you are doing more than compiling facts. You need to make sense of what you discover as well as develop your argument on this topic.
Your Audience: Your teacher
Your Tone: formal, using the third-person point of view. Do not use the pronoun “I”. In formal language, you do not use slang, colloquial expressions, or contractions.
For this assignment:
Remember, your topic must be argumentative in nature – you must be able to clearly see both sides.
Your topic must be researchable.
Also remember that your topic must be something that you can prove. For example, you can’t choose this topic: Why is there hunger in the world? But this could be the start to an interesting topic on how our state and local governments should develop more programs to feed the hungry in our local areas.

2A. The Side You Will Take:
2B. Explanation of Why You Are Taking This Side:
3. Include at least four THOUGHTFUL questions for the topic you’ve selected.
Please remember – The purpose of these questions is to help guide your argument.
Your questions should be specific enough to be useful.
However, they need to be general enough that they will lead you to more specific questions as you perform your research.
