Survivance Definition:
Survivance isn’t about mere survival. Vizenor is proposing something more nuanced and complex than survival. He defines survivance in opposition to the condition of being exclusively a victim. Instead, it is a more active approach to depicting survival, achieved through the presentation of stories about the active presence of Indigenous people in the world, in the here and now, and ongoing into the future.
