health & medical question
Purpose: Construct a health records retention schedule and differentiate between license-sure, certification, and accreditation in healthcare.
Background: Sayles Chapter 8 is about health law. One aspect of health law is directly related to how long the patient information is kept in health care organizations or at their off-site storage facilities in different mediums so it can be released or used for research purposes. Closely related is the importance of differentiating between licensure, certification, and accreditation in health care. These topics connect the chapter to the assignment. Identifying the key internal and external stakeholders for medical record retention and licensure certification and accreditation is necessary to begin the research on how healthcare organizations can comply with the correct retention and business practices. There are federal, state, and regulatory rules about medical record retention. Read Sayles Ch 8 and identify the internal and external stakeholders for medical record retention, licensure, certification, and accreditation for an acute care hospital. Then research online to find resources about medical record retention, and the differences in licensure, certification, and accreditation in an acute care hospital. Create a document that you will present in the next division meeting with the new CEO of the hospital explaining the internal and external stakeholders of the hospital, describing the medical records retention schedule, and differentiating between licensure, certification, and accreditation within the hospital and its health care providers.
