An 18-year-old female presents for evaluation for skin lesions. Exam demonstrates numerous, pink, scaly papules on the trunk. Your initial thought is pityriasis rosea. Remembering the differential diagnosis of PR, you ask some additional questions. The patient reveals that 1 week ago she had a horrible sore throat and fever. She denied any cough or running nose. She denies being treated with any medications. After reexamination, you further define the plaques as monomorphous and measure less than 1 cm.
