Jennifer is a 37-year-old woman living in Vancouver, BC. All her life she has been an athlete: playing soccer and softball, hiking, swimming, skiing, and biking. Until her diagnosis of ALS in April of 2020, Jennifer worked as a high-school chemistry teacher. She is married to Adam, her husband of 10 years. They have two children, Ella (9) and Emma (7). Jennifer first started noticing problems with her mobility in 2019, when she found it increasingly challenging to do activities that used to be so easy for her. As the year progressed, she started tripping and even had a few falls. After many possible diagnoses and weeks of tests, it was determined that she had sporadic ALS. Jennifer and her family were, of course, devastated by this news. Fortunately, Jennifer and Adam have financial resources and a large support network, including Jennifer’s parents who have now moved into the basement of their home. The house has been renovated to be accessible by wheelchair and the bathroom now has a wheelchair accessible shower.
