Something I learned is that APA style primarily uses the author-date citation system for in-text citations. What this means is that the author’s last name and the publication year of the source are included in parentheses within the text. I have not yet added citations and references to my rough draft, as that is usually what I do very last of any papers I write so I will provide other examples. To cite in APA, you use the last name, a comma, and the year, within parentheses. For example, (Smith, 2019). This would be the in-text citation.
A direct quote would include the direct quote in quotation marks, followed by the citation in parentheses with the last name and the year of publication.
