At the end of this journey, I will be a Family Nurse Practitioner. The theory I believe that can help me is Peplau’s interpersonal relationship. I feel that it will help me with interpersonal relationship with my patients and other health care providers. Learning to use therapeutic communication with my client can help me gain their trust. When there is trust, patients tend to share more. Share about their culture, beliefs, habits and symptoms. Having a better insight in one’s client can help a health provider have better health outcomes (Reyes., et al 2022).
I also want to practice Neuman’s systems model. I want to be a nurse practitioner that is current with the times, proactive, innovative and has a holistic approach. I am not going to just treat my client’s physical ailment because I know that there are other factors such as sociocultural psychological, and spiritual, that come into play. Things like stress that they battle with, in their environment that effects the client’s health outcomes (McEwen & Wills 2023). Identifying stressors and creating a strategy that includes your patient input, likes, beliefs or spirituality is beneficial to the clients. A inclusive plan can mean that a patient will be more compliant to it and have better health outcomes because of it.
