Identify an event related to your chosen Hot Topic Module in which compassion was surprisingly shown or not shown. That is, choose an instance from current events or history where compassion (or its absence) was unexpected – again, make sure this event occurred in a context that relates to your Hot Topic Module. By “event,” we mean a specific occurrence of compassion (or lack of compassion) that was described in the news, and about which you can describe details (e.g., who, what, where, when) about what happened. Then write a short piece (450-550 words) on why this may have occurred using the principles of social psychology addressed in this week’s materials.
