A 23-year-old patient who is 16 weeks pregnant presents to the urgent care with 3 days of URI symptoms. She tests negative for COVID-19. She asks the NP if she should get a COVID-19 vaccine. Following current ACOG guidance, the NP recommends: Yes, COVID-19 can be very serious in pregnant people and the vaccine is safe in pregnancy. No, ACOG recommends against the vaccine due lack of studies. The patient is not likely to get very sick, so it’s probably not worth it. Yes, but the vaccine has to be given within the first trimester to be effective.
