After reading Kendall chapter #5, you know a status is a person’s rank or position in a group or society. And, a role is the set of expectations associated with a status. The key difference between the two concepts is a status is a person’s rank or position, such as mother or professor; while a role is behavior associated with a status, such as changing a diaper or giving a lecture. Review the reasons we do not always fulfill the role expectations of the statuses we possess are explained by role strain and role conflict.
Do you believe you are experiencing more or less role strain and role conflict as you age. Why or why not? Be sure to address both role strain and role conflict. Support your answer with information from chapter #5. Cite the information with the page number and textbook edition you are using, for example (pg.100, ed.10).
