The predisposing, reinforcing, and enabling constructs in educational diagnosis and evaluation (PRECEDE), along with the policy, regulatory, and organizational constructs in educational and environmental development (PROCEED) form the PRECEDE-PROCEED model. Course Project Overview – Working Ahead

For your course project, you will prepare a complete program plan that addresses a public health issue in a specific population. You will not need to implement the intervention or conduct the evaluation. The plan will be based in the real world and would therefore draw on real data and other information gathered in the needs assessment and planning processes.

 

Complete the following:

 

In Week 1, you will select a health issue as the focus for your course project. In addition, you will describe the health issue, including a brief background of the problem and the populations or groups most affected. You will write a memo of intent to justify addressing the health issue and target population.

In Week 2, you will identify and describe the behavioral and environmental risk factors related to the health issue. You will also compare the risk factors based on importance and changeability.

Then in Week 3, you will select one or two behavioral risk factors for in-depth analysis. You will identify and describe predisposing, reinforcing, and enabling factors for each behavioral risk. In addition, you will examine three settings that could be used to approach the health behavior. In Week 3 you will submit the work through this part of the project for grading.

In Week 4, you will recommend strategies that can be used to address each factor (predisposing, reinforcing, and enabling) and prepare an assessment of community resources and community capacity for change.

In Week 5, you will compare and contrast the strategies you recommended in Week 4 to evidence-based practices. In addition, you will describe and explain the appropriate working group for the implementation of the proposed strategies. Finally, you will compile all the previous components of this project and incorporate them into a final paper.
