1) ATTITUDE OF GRATTITUDE

You need 7 weeks’ worth of material. (It can be more than 7 weeks but not less than 7)?Each week write down 5 things (you can write more) that happened to you that week that you are grateful for. It should be a sentence or two about your feelings and reflection on it. E mail me if you need more clarification.?I will collect your notes in the end of a semester.

2) SELF APPRECIATION EXERCISE

You need 7 weeks’ worth of material. (It can be more than 7 weeks but not less than 7)?Each week write down 5 qualities (you can write more) that you love and appreciate about yourself, things that you have done that week that made you feel good about yourself (From helping out a friend, to doing something good for a stranger, it does not have to be a grandiose thing it can be driving around your grandparents, cooking your parents’ favorite meal for them, opening a door for someone etc.) Along the way you may discover positive personality traits that you were not even aware of. This is not a selfishness exercise it is merely allowing yourself to appreciate and love who you are. Love for others starts from love of self.

AFTER YOU COLLECT ALL THE DATA (this applies ONLY to the Extra credit #1 and #2) YOU NEED TO WRITE A SHORT ESSAY ANSWERING THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS. No particular format is required. Write it as a journal entry or whatever style you choose. Answer all the following questions.

1) What was the Most challenging part of doing the assignment?

2) Are you going to incorporate it into your daily life? If yes, why? If no, why not??

3) Did you find it meaningful and useful? How??

4) Did it change anything in your thought process or behavior? How??

5) What is 1 thing you took away from this assignment? (You can talk about more than one thing 🙂

3) SELF LOVE PAPER

Step 1: Think of some weaknesses, fears or anxieties, thought processes or emotional responses pertaining to present, or future situations, events, people (including yourself) and relationships. Somethings you would like to change your cognitions and thought processes about.

Step 2: Take time to write down what your internal dialogue is regarding the above mentioned factors (what you usually tell yourself when they arise).

Step 3: Now try to assume a role of your Best Friend (Lover, family member, someone you are in love with or deeply care about) and reverse the roles. If your best friend, family member, someone you are in love with or deeply care about came to you and opened up about exact same feelings, what would you tell them and why?

Step 4: Write down at least 5 characteristics (you can write more than 5 but not less). First you will write your anxieties and what you tell yourself in those situations, then assume a role of above mentioned person(s) and write a response they would give you in those situations.

Your paper should be minimum 5 pages, Times New Roman, 12 Font and double spaced. Step 5:  Write a Conclusion where you discuss

A)  What was the most challenging part of doing the assignment?

B)  Did it change anything in your thought process and if yes, how?

C)  Did you find it meaningful? How?

D)  What is one (can be more than one) important idea you took away from this assignment?

E)  Any additional ideas, thoughts and reflections will make your paper even stronger.
