Indigenous languages are a vital part of cultural identity and heritage. Preserving and revitalizing these languages is essential for sustaining traditions, worldviews, and community well-being. Two recent resources explore this topic in depth:

· “Beyond Words: The Power of Native Language Revitalization” – National Congress of American Indians (2024)

· PBS Analysis: “ How Indigenous languages can be preserved…”

After reviewing both sources, respond to the following questions:

1. Why is the preservation and revitalization of Indigenous languages important for cultural identity and educational equity? Consider the social, historical, and educational implications discussed in the readings.

2. What is one practical way educators can support Indigenous language preservation in their classrooms or communities? Provide an example that demonstrates respect, accuracy, and inclusivity.

Response Requirement: Engage with at least one peer’s post by discussing potential challenges educators might face when implementing language preservation strategies. Share additional ideas or resources that could help overcome these barriers.
