Deliverable 06 – Metacognition

Scenario

It is that time of the year when your annual performance review is due. As part of your management role for the organization, Human Resources has asked you to include a leadership checklist and self-reflection. Consider where you are today as a leader, and where you want to be in the future. Reflect on how this awareness allows you to:

• Think critically

• Manage emotions

• Make decisions

• Communicate effectively

Instructions

Step 1: (Criterions 1-4 MINIMUM 4 to 5 pages of content)

· To start your self-reflection for your annual review, you will need to create a leadership checklist. Your check list should be an APA formatted paper. The paper should have a minimum of 4 to 6 pages of content, not including the title page and/or reference page. The paper must contain support from the relevant research conducted using credible scholarly sources to support each criterion.

·  Address the following:

· Develop criteria for evaluating where you are now and where you want to be in five years, with respect to leadership.

· NOTE: (When you see the word “develop” in a prompt, it means to elaborate, to provide information and details.

· Determine what you need to develop within yourself to be an effective leader.

· NOTE: When you see the word “determine” in a writing prompt, it means to arrive at a conclusion through analysis of your own logical thinking.

· Define criteria for evaluating how you make decisions.

· How do those decisions affect others?

· NOTE: This criterion has two sections to address. When you see the word “define” in a writing prompt, it means to create a clear understanding of concepts introduced to your reader.

· Describe criteria that evaluate self-awareness. For instance, what cues could you develop that provide an alert of self-awareness that your behavior is negatively impacting yourself or someone else?

· What is the behavior identified?

· What is the impact if not self-corrected at the moment?

· NOTE: This criterion has three distinct parts to address. When you see the word “describe” in a writing prompt, it means to use language that will allow your reader to visualize and understand what you are presenting.

Step 2: (Minimum 1 full page of content)

· Next, you will need to write a summary (aim for a minimum of 2 to 3 full paragraphs of content) on how self-reflection is key to effective leadership. Your summary should be clear, concise, and demonstrate your understanding of the relationship between self-reflection and effective leadership.

· In your summary, should include the following:

· Define Self-Reflection: Briefly explain what self-reflection entails in a leadership context.

· Clearly discuss how the practice of self-reflection contributes to a leader’s effectiveness. Consider aspects such as (only choose one to discuss):

· Understanding strengths and weaknesses.

· Learning from experiences (successes and failures).

· Developing self-awareness.

· Improving decision-making.

· Fostering empathy and understanding of others.

· Promote personal growth.

· NOTE: Be sure to use research from credible scholarly sources to support your answers.
