As a teacher, it is vital to understand how the U.S. Constitution establishes a separation of powers within the American government, as it is a fundamental aspect of our democracy. By developing your knowledge of how our government is structured, you can help your students develop an understanding of the democratic process.

Write a minimum 500-word paper in APA 7 format that includes a description of the three branches of the federal government and explains the checks and balances for each branch – be sure to explain, not just list. Explain how they check and balance. Explain which is the most powerful and why. DO NOT COPY AND PASTE FROM SOURCES! You must research, analyze, and put it into your own words.

Create a graphic organizer or infographic that compares and contrasts the three branches of the federal government. As part of the visual, demonstrate visually which branch you believe to be the most powerful and why. This should be a visual that you create, not copy from somewhere. Effective graphic organizers and infographics include text, relevant/supportive visuals, and color. Canva has free options that can be helpful in creating graphic organizers and infographics if you do not know where to start. All you are doing here is creating a visual that should be 8 1/2″ x 11″ and embedded in the same document as your paper. This should not be a PowerPoint, T-chart, or Prezi. The samples below are different topics, but will give you an idea of what is expected.

Submit your assignment in a Word document or PDF in one comprehensive document in APA 7 format. The paper portion should be first after the APA 7 Title Page, and the graphic organizer/infographic should be embedded in the paper (not linked). Be sure to include an APA 7 Title Page, the short paper, graphic organizer/infographic, and an APA 7 Reference Page.
