Review all the guidelines from Bias-Free Language Links to an external site. and Sample Reflective Writing Links to an external site. referring to characteristics of age, disability, gender, participation in research, racial and ethnic identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and intersectionality in the links found in the bias-free language resource, in 1-2 pages, reflect on the following:
· Describe why you feel it is important to avoid using biased assumptions about people in academic writing.
· Explain what surprised you most while learning about avoiding writing bias with one specific characteristic and why this would be considered biased.
· Examples: ethnic identity, age
· List five problematic and preferred examples of biased/bias-free language.
