Discussion: Sustainability Revolution: as economic opportunity
Here are two short videos ( advertisements really) from an investment firm – that is promoting people (investors) to jump on board the Sustainable Revolution- as an economic opportunity.
They say:
“We are the midst of the next economic revolution. And it’s being driven by companies. Today, we are witnessing a transition to a more inclusive, low carbon and sustainable economic model. At Lombard Odier, we focus not only on profit but also on people, the planet and have hard-wired sustainability into our strategy. We avoid investing in companies who refuse to adopt sustainable models and risk being left behind.
Please respond to these two advertisements:
What do you think? It will certainly take individuals and corporations to create the major shift we need… Is this form of advertising going to help? Do you see this as legitimate? Well meaning? Or using a buzzword to sell investment strategies? Or maybe a little of both?
As we look at consumerism and advertising and food labelling, we will see this type of thing again and again. Target marketing. It’s not all bad, is it? Share your thoughts.
