H1: The degree to which individuals feel general stigmatization about mental health is positively related to how much self-stigma they feel.
H2: People who experience negative doctor-patient communication are more likely to engage in self-stigmatizing beliefs and behaviors related to their health condition compared to positive doctor-patient communication.
Subscales for h2 A. Physician's Empathy
B. Information Provision
C. Respect and Dignity
Remember, you use t-tests when you have a categorical variable like gender predicting a continuous variable. In this case, all of your variables are continuous, so you would use correlations because correlations are for when you are hypothesizing that two continuous variables are related.
The first step for testing your hypotheses is to construct composite variables in SPSS that are composed of the mean score across the items for each construct. So for your Patient Empathy scale you would average those two items together.

I was in the middle of a panic attack but didn't k0w what one of those even was. He very calmly explained what was happening to me (I was having panic attacks up to three times a day at that point) and arranged for me to work with a nurse to get depression medication for free through a special program. I had the opportunity to speak with this doctor again, in May 2023. I stopped him and told him that he changed my life, and he asked for a hug and thanked me for telling him. I have had mental health professionals that I didn't care for, but my initial diag0sis experience was one of the 1est moments of relief and understanding and comfort I've ever had.

While my first doctor who diag0sed me with Anxiety was lovely, my secondary doctor who diag0sed me with my mood stabilization disorder and CPTSD was wildly unpleasant. It made me feel that these more complicated mental illness were worse. That my mental health was a lost cause because of the severity. This made these problems worse because it made me feel like I was broken and beyond repair instead of helping me see my diag0sis as a way to help me build coping mechanisms.
