Cover Letter
Every portfolio must have a cover letter. Address the letter “Dear Readers” and in it, share your reflections on your writing process and progress this semester. Your specific insights and frank considerations about your writing give the reader a sense of how engaged and aware you are of your own development.
Please introduce the body of work in your portfolio and explain what it says about you as a writer. What are your strengths, and what will you take with you and continue to build upon going forward, and what do you need to keep an eye on and work toward improving? Use specific examples from your work to demonstrate your ideas.

The prompts below are designed to aid in the reflection process. Don’t feel as if you have to answer each and every item. I would much rather have you be specific about one or two items, meaning give examples and discuss them thoroughly, than have you touch on each item superficially. The purpose of the writing is twofold: one is to introduce the reader to your work and your progress; the other and more important purpose is to give you a sense of your own work so that you can become a more independent writer.
