Post a discussion page of a minimum 300 words (50 more than usual because of the two part assignment).
We are going to do something a little different with this discussion post. It is divided into two parts:
First, summarize the “foundation program,” how it works (ALL 3 aspects of the program 1, 2, 3), what it is supposed to do, whether it works or not. Give a general description of the program so that someone who reads your summary would be able to understand what it is all about. AND what about the “sticking point”? What is that all about? (Be sure to apply all the aspects of a properly constructed summary from our summary assignment of “A Liberalism of Heart and Spine.”)
Second, draw out the funding aspect of the foundation program in terms of how it could connect to our essay topic on funding. In other words, how do the rich (corporations) benefit from this funding “scheme”? We know that they control it, but how do they pull it off and how does it benefit them?
Remember funding is one of the potential topics for our paragraphs, so you could use what you write here for an essay paragraph if you give it a topic sentence and use two different sources of support (quotations). Others who have written about funding are Barber (Channel One) and Chomsky (parasitic institutions) and more? You canuse your own post in your essay, but of course cannot use someone else’s. That would be plagiarism.
