IHP 630 Module Six Project Preparation Guidelines and Rubric
Overview
In this module, you learned about the internal and external revenue-cycle workows, and how these are impacted by insurance plan requirements and regulations. You also read about the
operational workows within a healthcare revenue cycle.
This assignment will allow you to assess the impact of internal and external revenue-cycle workows on strategic planning and nancial management and identify front-end, middle, and back-
end revenue-cycle processes within operational workows.
The assignment will help you prepare for sections 4 (Healthcare Reimbursement), 5 (Revenue-Cycle Process), and 6C (Technology and System Impacts) in the course project.
Directions
Create an analysis report to assess an organization’s internal workows from the context of improving cash ow and nancial strength. If you need writing support, access the Online Writing
Center through the Academic Support module of your course.
Specically, you must address the following rubric criteria:
1. Patient Registration: Analyze the signicance of the steps in the operational workow for registering a patient prior to a diagnostic procedure. Consider the following questions to guide
your response:
What is the signicance of the patient nancial responsibility agreement?
When should the provider present an advance beneciary notication of noncoverage to the beneciary?
2. Errors Impacting Cash Flow: Analyze the revenue-cycle errors that may occur in internal and external workows that can impact a healthcare organization’s cash ow and nancial
strength. Consider the following questions to guide your response:
What errors can occur that will impact revenue integrity?
How do these errors affect the organization’s cash ow?
3. Prevention of Errors: Explain how the errors you described can be prevented. Consider the following questions to guide your response:
What changes in the process will help prevent these errors?
What tools or systems can you use to prevent these errors?
4. Workow Improvements: Recommend at least two workow process improvements across the front-end, middle, and back-end revenue-cycle processes. These workow improvements
must not be directly related to the error-prevention recommendations you provided. Consider the following questions to guide your response:
What improvements can you recommend for internal processes?
