For this case study, you’re going to create an imaginary work team. It must be a work team (not a book club, academic group or amateur sports team – professional sports team is ok). You might consider a team that is working to integrate a new acquisition, create a new product, open up a new market, set a strategic plan or another significant business activity. You can decide whether they’re successful or not, just make sure you’re using examples to justify (like don’t tell me your group is successful, without using research from the learnings about successful groups). In a paper of 3.5-ish pages, tell me about the following:
1. What kind of company does your group work for – what does it do, profit or non-profit, domestic or international, who are its customers, where is the company located and anything else you think is relevant.
2. What is your group working on? What does success look like, how will they measure performance, what’s the time frame, how will they know when they’re done?
3. Who are the members of your group? How many of them – why did you choose that number? What are their skills and expertise – talk about surface and deep diversity for each member.
4. What does the team building process look like – use examples.
5. What is the role of each member and why?
6. How will the team make decisions? Is there a leader? Who is it and why?
7. What are the team norms and values?
8. How will the team communicate?
9. What challenges might the team face and how will they solve them?
10. Do you predict they will be successful or not? Why?
Formatting:
· Use APA or MLA format (whichever you're most familiar with)
· Make sure you include an introduction and conclusion.
· 3.5-ish page double spaced paper. 4.75 pages is fine, so is 5.75. 10 pages is not ok; neither is 3. Cover pages and references don't count as part of the requirement.
· 12-point font, normal margins, no extra spaces between paragraphs to make it look longer, blah blah blah…
· If you work with someone else, you should turn in a single document that flows like one paper. Please don't turn in two 2.5-page papers that you stuck together five minutes before the deadline. Make sure both names are on the paper.
· Upload a word.doc. Please don't send me a google.doc because half the time I can't open them, and it makes me grumpy.
· Papers will be checked for plagiarism and AI generation.
