Self-Injurious Behaviour can take many different forms, including but not limited to head-hitting, head-banging, and hand-biting. It is most common in individuals with autism and intellectual disabilities who engage in self-injurious behavior, which causes bodily harm to one’s own body. The desired outcome and type of behavior are used to assess behavior. For example, if the desired behavior is hitting, the therapist may use count to keep track of how many times the child hits(LeBlanc et al., 2015). There is a need to conduct a functional assessment to check treatment efficiency. Conclusive evidence can only be used if it is based on accurate data. It is critical to choose observable and measurable target behavior when measuring behavior. Therapists cannot adequately establish a change in behavior without those two components. To ensure that this is effective, one will need excel datasheets. Separate data sheets should capture different measurements, such as observational data and the results (LeBlanc et al., 2015). This means that technology will be used to present the data using graphs and dashboards for illustration purposes.
