Write a one-page summary that outlines your plans for your proposal project. To help you write this summary, look at the “Considering Audience and Purpose” box on pp. 405 in your textbook. Use the answers to those questions to help you brainstorm and write what you plan to cover in your proposal. To determine your topic, you first need to identify a problem within the business world that you feel needs addressing. Think of possible solutions to the problem and propose one of these solutions in your proposal for this class. Think through your solution carefully and thoroughly because you need to make sure that your solution is appropriate, feasible, and realistic. Write your proposal to a real person at a real company.

Here is an example of such a proposal:

John, a business writing student, knows a company that makes solar-powered water filters and believes this company could really help during times when natural disasters (at home and abroad) make water unsafe for victims and for responders. John comes up with a solution and proposes to the CEO of the company that by providing filters at a low cost to victims and first responders, not only would the company help those affected but it could also benefit the company itself. In his proposal, John explains his plan to partner with an international volunteer organization, lays out the costs, takes into account the logistics, and shows the CEO just how the company’s help would work to everyone’s benefit.

Ultimately, you will want to make sure the project is as real as possible.

You can choose whether to write an internal or external proposal as long as you follow the proper format and style. Also, follow the examples in the book in Chapter 12 I have attached to make sure you have the appropriate format and style for your proposal.
