Juanita is a physician who has reason to believe that her patient is the victim of domestic violence. Juanita says to the patient “Look what happened to you has to stop, I have to call the cops.” The patient responds by saying, “please don’t call the cops, I love my husband and I know he won’t do it again”. Juanita is required to notify the police or other authorities Juanita is prohibited from notifying the police Juanita is permitted to use her own judgment about whether to call the police or not. Juanita is required to try to use “due diligence” to get the patient to change her mind.
