Optional DQ – Using research to Support your Ideas

Part of information literacy is knowing how to effectively use research to support our statements and Ideas.
Before online courses, one of my college professors allowed open-book exams. His explanation was that knowing how to effectively find information in a timely fashion is a more valuable skill than memorizing facts. Supporting our ideas with documented, accurate resources will build credibility in our thoughts and ideas.
However, as we write it is essential to remember our written work should always be at least 80% original. Why would this matter?
