PICO Concept Map

Formulating an ethical research question is not difficult if broken down into steps. First, identify your topic of interest and then follow the steps below to formulate a PICO question. After formulating your question, use it to complete a literature search to find further support for the question.

Step 1: Nursing Topic of Interest

What nursing topic or issue would you like to learn more about that could help you in your current practice? State the topic or issue and explain why and how it is relevant to your practice area.

Step 2: Concept Map

Complete the following concept map. Identify the concepts of each part of the PICO question. Enter your information in each of the circles below.

· Population (P): What individual or group are you interested in studying?

· Intervention (I): What action is being considered?

· Comparison (C): What are you comparing the action to?
