Acme Corporation Case
For the project, you will study the Acme Corporation case and organize a trial notebook. A trial notebook is an outline that a trial attorney will follow during a trial. It contains case pleadings, motions, pre-trial orders, subpoenas, copies of the deposition transcripts to be used at the trial, copies of documentary evidence, trial briefs and proposed jury instructions. You will put together a trial notebook using all the documents drafted for the final project in each week, and submit it in Week 4. Review the Acme Corporation case.
In Week 2, prepare a subpoena duces tecum for Acme Corporation, seeking its product safety procedures before and after Robert Roe changed procedures on May 5, 2001; the hazardous waste disposal procedures for Acme Corporation before and after May 5, 2001; and other such records that will advance the case against Acme. Remember that your completed subpoena should seek all documents you need for questioning this witness and for trial.
After you prepare the subpoena duces tecum, provide a screenshot of a saved copy of the template as a form in AbacusLaw, CLIO or another legal office management software. Write a separate memorandum to your supervising attorney with step-by-step instructions on how to save a form to AbacusLaw, CLIO or the system you used. Cite all sources using the Bluebook format.
