Reproductive justice not only considers a person’s right to choose to have a child or not, but also holistically considers other factors, such as socioeconomics and the environment, in what it means to create and maintain family ties. Your task is to choose two of the following texts, The Left Hand of Darkness, Fast Color, The Handmaid’s Tale, “Bloodchild,” “Speech Sounds,” and/or An Unkindness of Ghosts, and to consider the role of reproductive justice. What do your chosen texts invite us to consider about the issue of reproductive justice? How does reproductive justice fit into the larger society illustrated in the texts?
