Research Issue or Topic: Marriage Traditions I have chosen marriage traditions as my focus area. This topic is rich in cultural significance and offers insights into family dynamics, cultural values, and community cohesion within the Muslim context.
Research Design: focus to specific aspects of marriage traditions, such as pre-wedding rituals, ceremonies, and post-wedding customs. Planning and Organization: I will create an outline detailing the aspects I aim to explore, including questions for interviews, observations, and data collection methods
Data Collection: Identification of Culture: I will identify a local Muslim community or sub-community known for its adherence to traditional marriage practices.
Informant Selection: I will seek a willing informant from this community to provide insights, experiences, and information related to marriage traditions.
Data Collection Methods: I will use the questionnaire, conduct observations during relevant events or gatherings, and request access to relevant documents and photographs with the informant’s permission.
Data Analysis and Interpretation: Once the data collection phase is complete, I will analyze, edit, sort, and interpret the gathered information. I will look for patterns, themes, and cultural nuances within the marriage traditions to draw meaningful conclusions.
Paper Writing: I will use the analyzed data to write a mini-ethnography paper that explores marriage traditions in the local Muslim community. The paper will include background research from library and academic sources to provide context and depth to the ethnographic findings.
