Waldenville Pediatric Clinic Case Study: Read the following scenario and access the necessary document to complete the two items.

Waldenville has engaged you and a team of healthcare managers to consult on a new healthcare organization. Waldenville Pediatric Clinic, a new facility that will meet the healthcare needs of Waldenville’s citizens under 18, is due to open in a matter of months. You have been hired to consult on the setup and structure of the facility.

Part I: PowerPoint Presentation

· You have been asked to explain the organizational structure of the new clinic in a PowerPoint presentation for the board of trustees. Create a 12-slide presentation that maps the organizational structure of the new clinic and includes the following:

· Title slide (1 slide)

· Create a graphic showing the organizational structure (1 slide)

· Describe the duties and responsibilities for each of the 8 positions described in the Waldenville Pediatric Clinic Overview (8 slides)

· For each position, describe at least 3 duties or responsibilities that would be assigned to that person.

· Note: This step requires you to do some research on similar positions in other organizations and tailor it to a Pediatric Clinic.

· Describe at least two missing positions needed for the success of the organization (1 slide)

· Reference at least one appropriate scholarly source in APA format.

Part II: Roles and Responsibilities for Clinic Expansion

· Two years have now passed since the clinic opened successfully. The clinic has now decided to expand its hours of service to 8 p.m. each day. The additional 3 hours will require additional staffing based on the following duties and competencies needed to meet this expansion of service, both for medical personnel and for health management personnel:

· Receiving and checking in patients (staff of 1)

· Examining, diagnosing, and treating patients (staff of 1)

· Billing patients and insurance companies (staff of 1)

· Observing and recording patient behavior and counseling and educating patients and families (staff of 2)

· Packaging pharmaceuticals for distribution to patients (staff of 1)

· Obtaining insurance authorization from patients and maintaining patient records (staff of 1)

· Ensuring all patients receive effective care (staff of 1)

· Marketing the clinic’s new hours (staff of 1)

· Delegate the roles and responsibilities necessary for the clinic’s expansion of business hours. Justify your delegation.

· Explain why workforce motivation is especially important in this type of situation.

· From a management perspective, explain at least two strategies that you would use to motivate employees who are in new or changing roles.
