Social Stratification
Although you may not recognize it as such, we are confronted with the privileges and penalties associated with a social class on a daily basis. Now that you have learned more about the different social classes in the United States, let’s apply this to something you are probably more familiar with…television shows.
Assignment I:
Select 2 (two) different TV shows (past or present), that depict: 1) an upper-class family and 2) a lower (working) class family (past or present).
For each of the shows, you choose, copy, and paste the list of prompts into your document and then provide the answer(s) for the prompt below it. You should have 2 separate sets of answers (1 for each show). Five (5) points will be deducted if the information is not formatted correctly.
*You may use short answers for this assignment
Prompts:
1) The name and textbook definition of the social class you believe this show represents (2 points)
2) Title and date the show was created (2 points)
3) The names and roles of the main characters in the show (4 points)
4) The character’s living condition (what type of home, neighborhood, etc.) (2 points)
5) Provide 3 examples or situations from the show that led you to place this show in the social class you chose (6 points)
