For each video, you will focus on one area of development  (there are two videos for the Health and Physical Development Domain)  – you will document word for word  what they see and hear on the video – then you will list the goal or goals observed that the children are doing in the video. Additionally, you will identify other domains that you might have witnessed the children engaging in during the video.

Create a table using 2 columns and 4 rows for each video like the example below. Label each table with the name of the video and the domain being focused on. There will be a total of 6 tables when the assignment is completed. Submit as 1 Word Document.

Under the first column of each table you will paste the following writing prompts (as shown in the example):

1. Provide written documentation for what you see and hear regarding.

2. Write out the goal that you see occurring.

3. Based on your written documentation above – what other domains did you observe?

Under the 2nd column in your table, you will discuss each of the  prompts as shown in the example:

Be sure to use the format provided in the example for this assignment. You are required to type your information in the format. If you submit the work hand-written, it will not be accepted.

Below is an example of what 1 table will look like completed:

Provide written documentation for what you see and hear regarding:

Teacher is talking to students. What are we going to do first?

Teacher asked open-ended questions – what do you want to grow?

The child is digging in the dirt, hauling materials.

The children are writing a plan for what to do.

Child “B” found a worm in the dirt.

The teacher asked the children about the habitat of worms.

Child “B” asked the teacher what is a habitat?

The teacher explained a Habitat is a place to live.

Child “A” found root and then talked about what it was and where it came from with Child “B”.

The teacher asked the children about what vegetables they wanted to plant in their garden.

The children dig in the dirt with their hands and place seeds in holes in the dirt.

Write out the goal that you see occurring:

Based on what was observed and heard during the video, the following goals are being shown by the children in the Approaches to Learning Domain:

APL – 1: Children show curiosity and express interest in the world around them.

APL – 2: Children actively seek to understand the world around them.

APL – 5: Children are willing to try new and challenging experiences.

Based on your written documentation above – what other domains did you observe

Based on the notes taken while watching the video, the children are also showing development in the following domains:

Emotional/Social Development (ESD) – Child “A” and “B” communicate with each other and work together to understand what a root is and where it comes from.

Health and Physical Development (HPD) – the children are planting a garden and learning about healthy eating.  They are using fine motor skills by moving dirt to plant seeds.

Language Development and Communication (LDC) – the children talk to each other and ask questions of the teacher.

Cognitive Development (CD) – the children ask questions and learn about science through the activity.
