Last week, you performed a frequency observation of a defined behavior. You focused on your experiences conducting the observation and measurement, and you included a simple frequency measurement of the target behavior.
For this Assignment, you will expand on last week’s observation by applying a more systematic approach to recording the behavior. You will not only have to use systematic behavioral measurement, but you will also have to select and defend why you selected that system over others.
To Prepare
In your readings from the Learning Resources and the Week 3 Single-subject Design video, review the different types of behavioral observation systems. Examine the pros and cons of each system. Note: Your review of the Week 3 Single-subject Design video will be critical to the completion of this Assignment.
Review the behavior you observed from the Week 2 Learning Resources video Observing Problem Behaviors. Select the behavioral recording system you believe would provide the most reliable measure of the target behavior.
Assignment (1–2 pages)
Propose a systematic behavioral measurement system (e.g., partial interval, whole interval, momentary time sampling) you might use to conduct an ethical observation more systematically.
Write a 1-page rationale for selecting the systematic behavioral measurement system you chose.
Be sure to support your Assignment with specific references to behavior-analytic theory and research. In addition to the Learning Resources, search the Walden Library and/or the internet for peer-reviewed articles to support your Assignment. Use proper APA format and citations, including those in the Learning Resources.
