Reflection Essay Guidelines
The purpose of Reflection Essays in this class is for you to critically reflect on the course
material. You will be expected to demonstrate through reflective writing that you have
engaged with readings, online lectures, and other activities. Unlike the portfolio
assignments, you do not need to include citations or conduct additional research beyond
what we have covered as a class.
Formatting instructions for essay submissions:
450-550 words
Single-spaced, using 12-point font and 1-inch margins
Submitted using MS Word or other Canvas-compatible files
o .pages or PDF files will not be accepted!
No title page required
Tips for essay submissions:
Speak your truth and be open. You are not being evaluated on your knowledge of
a specific issue or on your opinions.
Sit with your ideas for a period of time before you start writing. Let them solidify.
Be sure you are caught up with the course materials before writing. This way you
will have something meaningful to reflect on.
