After listening to the video and reading the document on Trompenaars Cultural Dimensions Explained, discuss the following with classmates:
In most workplaces in the United States based on your experience, observations, and/or research, would you say status is assigned to a person based on Achievement or Ascription? What experience, observations, and/or research led to your conclusion? How do you think status should be assigned to a person and why?
Post a quality response, that meets the below specifications, to the discussion item by midnight on Wednesday and at least 2 quality posts, that meet the below specifications, to others by midnight on Sunday. Response to Weekly Discussion Question/Statements: One or more Discussion Questions/Statements will be posted on Week 1, 2, 3, and 4’s Discussion Board in Brightspace. Students are required to post quality responses to these questions/statements based on the reading and their independent research. Your first post is due no later than 11:59 on Wednesday. Weekly chapter readings should be completed prior to posting comments. You do not have to agree with the text’s author, but your responses should be formulated as the result of your study. Additionally, to earn maximum points, your response to the unit’s questions/statements should be at least 300 words and you should support your statements with at least one citation from the textbook (cite with page number) and at least two from additional scholarly resources (NU library is an excellent resource for academic journals and articles, cite according to APA guidelines). Include citations using APA formatting for your references. Responding to other students’ posts: Your response to other students’ posts should not just state, “I agree.” The idea is that you are learning from others while the discussion is going on. It is fine to say that you agree, and support your classmates, but it is not enough. Explain why you agree or see it differently. Use an example to support your idea. Your response should be at 225 words. Citations are not required in your responses to others. The earlier you post in the week, the greater the opportunity you will have to receive responses and feedback from your peers. Only comments posted by 11:59 PM/PST on Sunday will earn credit/points. See the Grading Rubric in Brightspace for additional guidance in earning maximum points on Weekly Discussions.
