Explain why Emile Durkheim alleges that if we did not have deviants, we would create them. In other words, Durkheim is making an argument that having a group of people society considers deviant serves broader functions for society. What are these functions? Support your answer with detailed examples. Can a society survive without deviant acts? If not, why? You ask yourself whether we can have a crimeless society. Then address the reason for this. Do crimes help a society? You may notice that we, as members of society, believe in laws and norms, which are against crimes and deviant behaviors. This is how we get united, and society functions properly.

Your response should have four components: (1) define deviant behavior; (2) explain how cultural norms unite us against deviant behavior; (3) provide good examples from our day-to-day life to explain the terms, such as values, norms, deviance, social solidarity; (4) what are the functions of society which are served by deviant behaviors.

Your initial post should be at least 250 words in length. Support your claims with concepts and examples from material(s) and/or other scholarly resources, and properly cite the references.
