Week 4 Discussion Post 2 Replies 1. My experience with inclusive language often takes place at my workplace. I believe that using inclusive language is key to building trust and creating a sense of belonging among coworkers. When I’m at work I come in contact with a lot of different people throughout the day. While at work I don’t talk to my coworkers the way I would talk to my friends. At work inclusive language is very important, when we say things that unintentionally offend another person or make them uncomfortable?Our thoughtless word choices might alienate a colleague or make them not want to work with us or at the company. 2. My experience with inclusive language was influenced by my time in the military. Growing up, I did not pay much attention to inclusive language. In today’s world, people are easily offended and require being spoken to a certain way. I have been working on getting better at using this because of my position outside of the military. An example where I use inclusive language is when I’m at work. being in a management role, you have to learn to speak to certain individuals differently than others, so you have to learn how to maneuver through some language barriers and or personal preferences on how to speak to people.
