lets discuss

Hello, Students,

You may have heard people say something like, “This was the most important election of our lifetime.” And it might just have been.

To consider the importance of the last election and voting in it, we will focus our Writing Project 1 on that. I want you to just start thinking about the topic at hand in this week’s discussion.

Step 1 Read

To get an overview of the 2020 Election, please start by reading through the BBC‘s “US election 2020: A Really Simple Guide.” Links to an external site.

Step 2 Reflect

After reviewing the article, please answer the following questions in a 200 -250 word response.

  1. What did you learn from the article about the 2020 Election that you either did not know before or that you found most interesting?
  2. What specific issues or laws were you concerned with/interested in that was decided by the election (think immigration laws, free college, healthcare, etc).
  3. What more would you want to know about the issues around the 2020 election?

Step 3 Read and respond to other students’ posts.

Read other students’ posts and respond to at least two of them. In addition to any other comments you may have, respond to the following:

  • What ideas do you share with your classmate?
  • Do you agree with a viewpoint? Why?
  • Provide clarity on any points you have information about or can share a resource on.
  • Ask a question for your own clarity of the reading.

Use your personal experience, if it’s relevant, to support or debate other students’ posts. If differences of opinion occur, debate the issues professionally and provide examples to support opinions.

Please respond to at least two (2) classmates to meet the minimum requirement.

  4. Additional Prompts are due by SATURDAY at 11:59 PM Pacific Time
  5. Please note that posting all, or the majority, of your replies on the last day of the discussion after 6:00 pm will be considered for point deduction since this greatly decreases the interaction and impact of your posts.
  6. Interaction is the key to a productive and meaningful discussion between you, your peers, and your instructor, so your goal and approach should be meaningful interaction rather than meeting minimum point requirements
