1. Considering the information and graphic on how a bill becomes a law in Texas (pgs. 232-233), what is one advantage and one disadvantage to having a legislative system where it’s very difficult to pass anything?
2. After examining the different ways states select their judges (e.g., partisan elections, governor appointments, etc) and listening to arguments for and against electing judges, what is one advantages and one disadvantage of the way Texas elects its judges? Do you prefer to keeping the current system or would you prefer to change the way the state selects judges? Why?
3. Imagine there is a proposal to eliminate the powers of plural executive in Texas and give most of the lieutenant governor’s powers to the governor. Would you support this? Think about the advantages and disadvantages of having power dispersed between the two. In the end, explain why you would or wouldn’t support this proposal?
