Task: Both Lessing and Camus explore postcolonialism in Africa through the eyes of those who are colonizing. Lessing’s protagonist is a child who grows up in a colonized state. Camus’ protagonist is a semiretired colonial soldier who has chosen the post of schoolmaster in order to remove himself from the direct conflict. Compare the two protagonists in some way. You can connect specific moments of each text, internal dialogues, or even the endings of each story.
